Mikel Arteta has just given West Ham huge Eintracht Frankfurt hope

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was speaking about West Ham ahead of the Premier League clash at the London Stadium this afternoon.

The Hammers play host to the Gunners in what is a must-win game for both sides.

West Ham need to win in order to keep our top six hopes alive whilst Arsenal can cement their place inside the top four with all three points.

However, the big distraction for the Hammers is the second-leg of our Europa League semi-final with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night.

We lost 2-1 in the first-leg at the London Stadium a few nights ago and David Moyes would have been really disappointed with the outcome of the match.

Having said that, it was a tight match and we could have just as easily won the game. It wasn’t to be at the London Stadium, but there are plenty of reasons to feel confident for next week…

Mikel Arteta comments give West Ham great hope

The Arsenal boss will be desperate for his team to beat us on Sunday as the race for the Champions League places heats up.

The Spaniard knows just how dangerous we can be as a team.

And Arteta made it clear how West Ham very easily could have beaten Frankfurt on Thursday night, as quoted by Football.London:

“It is very demanding but you watched Thursday’s game and the chances that they created and the chances that they missed it could have been very very different so I don’t think it’s a performance issue.”

Now, it remains to be seen whether David Moyes selects the strongest team possible for today’s game.

He rested six first-team players for our game against Chelsea last weekend.

And with the second-leg in Frankfurt just around the corner, the Scot will most likely do the same against for the Arsenal game.

Mikel Arteta is well aware of just how good West Ham can be. So the Gunners boss will probably be hoping that Moyes mixes up his team today.

Who knows though? Perhaps the West Ham boss will surprise us. A win will take us back into sixth spot in the Premier League table after all.
