West Ham could try to sign Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter in the January transfer window according to club insider ExWHUemployee.

Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly on the hunt for a top-class central defender.

Angelo Ogbonna is out for the season and Kurt Zouma won’t be back for another month at least.

West Ham are currently sitting in fifth spot in the Premier League table. In order to kick on again in the new year though, the addition of an established centre-back will be a necessity.

And it seems as though Moyes has his eye on someone who really is in the elite bracket.

West Ham eyeing Matthias Ginter swoop

Ex told the West Ham Way that the 27-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach ace could be on the Hammers’ radar in January.

Ginter is a 46-capped Germany international and he was part of the squad that won the World Cup back in 2014.

He has played 15 Bundesliga games for Gladbach this season. During those outings, the 27-year-old has averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 2.9 clearances per game. He’s also won an average of 2.9 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

Ginter has made 68.7 passes on average per game and has recorded a completion rate of 83.7% (Who Scored).

The German is clearly very good in the air and with the ball at his feet. He would be a sensational addition for West Ham.

Ginter is out of contract with the Bundesliga club in the summer so perhaps he will be available for a bargain fee in the January transfer window.

Signing him next month should be an absolute no-brainer for the Hammers.
