The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old centre-back for quite some time now.

The East Londoners made a £23 million bid for the Fiorentina centre-back during last summer’s transfer window according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.

And our alleged interest in the 23-year-old has continued to be reported by various outlets since then.

Calcio Mercato most recently linked West Ham with a move to sign the Serbia international just a couple of weeks ago.

And it seems as though things are now progressing

West Ham in talks to sign Milenkovic

The towering Serbian centre-back could be available for a bargain fee this summer.

Ex told the West Ham Way podcast how the club are currently in talks to sign the 23-year-old defender:

“Centre-back has suddenly become more of a priority for us. Angelo has taken a knock and it’s proven to the club that we are reliant on another centre-back. Nikola Milenkovic, his value has decreased. At first we were talking £25 million now they’re prepared to accept a bit lower. There are talks ongoing with him and things could progress quite quickly.”

What an incredible signing Milenkovic would be for the Hammers.

In 34 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina last season, the Serbian scored three goals and registered one assist. In those outings, he averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 3.6 clearances and one block per match. The 23-year-old won an average of 3 aerial duals per game. He also had an 86% pass completion rate from an average of 46.6 passes per match (Who Scored).

They really are some very impressive numbers. If West Ham can pick him up for around £15 million or so, it really would be incredible value for the East London outfit.

After the signing of Alphonse Areola yesterday, the fans now seem confident that David Sullivan is ready to back David Moyes to the hilt this summer.

And Milenkovic arriving at the London Stadium would be further evidence of that.
