West Ham have ‘high profile’ interest in ‘spectacular’ French midfielder Ludovic Blas after a failed summer move by David Moyes and Rob Newman.

It is well known in West Ham circles that head of recruitment Newman has made French football a key fishing pond for talent.

The Hammers brought in Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta from Rennes and Lyon respectively for a combined £81m in the summer.

Emerson also spent last season at Lyon while Alphonse Areola’s loan from PSG was made permanent.

West Ham were also linked with a host of other Ligue 1 talents from Martin Terrier to Hugo Ekitike.

And another heavily linked with a switch to the London Stadium has been talented Nantes star Blas.

Reports from the likes of Football Transfers and L’Equipe before and during the summer window claimed West Ham made a move to sign Blas, who turns 25 at the end of this month.

Lille reportedly rivalled West Ham for the former France youth international midfielder but he ended up staying with Nantes.

Now West Ham are said to have reignited ‘high profile’ interest in ‘spectacular’ French midfielder Blas after the failed summer move by Moyes and Newman.

With a lack of guile and goals in the side, uncertainty over the future of Manuel Lanzini and with Nikola Vlasic having been shipped out to Torino, West Ham need more guile and creativity in the side.

According to The Herald and Rangers News, Nantes are trying to sign Ibrox midfielder Glen Kamara amid ‘high profile West Ham links to Blas’.

The reports claim Nantes want see Kamara as a replacement for Blas if they sell him to West Ham with a £20m deal mooted.

Blas is a left-footed attacking midfielder who is most comfortable when playing in the number 10 position, although he can play out wide as well.

It seems he is firmly back on West Ham’s radar after a stunning start to the new season with Nantes, scoring nine goals and laying on four assists in 21 starts including two goals and three assists in the Europa League.

The Hammers target possesses exceptional technique and has impressive pace and energy. And he is rated extremely highly by his teammates.

Blas’ Nantes midfield partner Pedro Chirivella absolutely raved about the star when he was being linked with a move to the Premier League in the last January window (Daily Star).

“When it comes to pure talent, I rate Ludovic Blas above all others. I played with Coutinho, Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, I know what they are capable of. And when I see what Ludo is doing in training or in games, he has nothing to envy them when it comes to talent. He’s incredible, spectacular, and his future looks bright.”
