West Ham have surely missed the boat on ‘incredible’ £25m summer signing after Fabrizio Romano update.

The Hammers have been linked with a move to sign Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer for quite some time now by the likes of Torino Granata and Calciomercato.it.

David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class central defender to the London Stadium in the summer.

Angelo Ogbonna will be out with an ACL injury until August at best and he is set to turn 34 before the start of next season.

A long-term replacement for the Italian is an absolute must.

Torino star Bremer would have been a great option for West Ham. There is some bad news regarding our chances of signing the Brazilian though…

The towering Torino centre-half is a man in high demand.

And Fabrizio Romano reckons that Bremer is a priority target for Inter Milan in the summer transfer window:

Inter Milan’s interest in signing the Torino defender will make West Ham’s task of bringing him to the Premier League next to impossible.

And that’s a real shame. What a superb signing the South American would be for the Hammers.

Bremer has been described as Torino’s ‘jewel in the crown’ by Transfer Market Web. And former Torino boss Davide Nicola described him as ‘incredible’.

In 23 Serie A outings for Torino this season, the 24-year-old has averaged 1.4 tackles, 3.5 interceptions and 3.6 clearances. He has also won an average of 3.8 aerial duals per game (Who Scored).

The 24-year-old has made 44.9 passes per game on average this season and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 81.5% (Who Scored).

Standing at 6ft 2in tall and with a great leap, Bremer is very strong in the air. He is also quick along the ground and is a tenacious tackler.

The Brazilian is valued at around €30 million (£25 million) according to Torino Granata. That is outstanding value for a defender with such quality and so many years left ahead of him playing at the very highest level.

In a straight battle with Inter, however, there will surely only be one winner for his signature. Bremer would then be able to remain in Italy and compete for the Serie A title and the Champions League as well.

West Ham are still in the middle of a process of building one step at a time under David Moyes. We all just have to be patient when it comes to new arrivals.

However, West Ham should have signed Bremer when we had the chance last summer or in January.

We may well have no chance of doing that now, with Inter prioritising a move to sign the Brazilian.
