West Ham United have already made moves to sign Aaron Ramsey from Juventus according to a report from Calcio Mercato.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium in the summer.

If truth be told, however, we should be looking to sign a physically robust, defensive midfielder.

West Ham have plenty of attacking central midfielders on their books including the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals.

So the idea of the Hammers moving to sign the 61-capped Wales international seems like a strange one.

West Ham should be going nowhere near Aaron Ramsey

David Moyes has already made tentative enquiries to bring the Juventus midfielder to the London Stadium according to a report from Calcio Mercato.

Calcio Mercato also recently claimed that Ramsey is actually keen to move to the London Stadium.

We believe that signing the 30-year-old would be a big mistake, however.

Having suffered with a succession of serious injuries, the Juventus midfielder is just not the same player he once was.

There is also the matter of Ramsey’s enormous wages, thought to be around £200k-a-week (Calcio Mercato).

He has won seven trophies throughout his career so far including three FA Cups. So he is an experienced winner, that cannot be argued.

Ramsey not the man for the Hammers

It just feels like signing the Welshman would be a big mistake from Moyes.

It would be classic West Ham to sign an injury prone player who is well past his best. Hopefully those days are long gone, however.

If the Hammers are to make genuine progress, we need to move away from past mistakes.

Signing young players with a hungry attitude and a point to prove should be at the very top of David Moyes’s agenda.

Let’s just hope that nothing comes of these Aaron Ramsey rumours. Signing him this summer has disaster written all over it for West Ham.
