West Ham want to sign Southampton striker Danny Ings this summer according to a report from the Sunday Mirror. We could face competition for his signature from Everton and Tottenham, however.

Hammers boss David Moyes will be prioritising the addition of a new centre-forward this summer.

In fact, it could be argued that we need at least two! But beggars can’t be choosers eh?

Michail Antonio is currently West Ham’s only recognised centre-forward. That clearly isn’t acceptable for a club with European aspirations.

West Ham chasing Danny Ings?

The Sunday Mirror reckon that the Hammers are keeping a close eye on the 28-year-old Saints hitman.

Everton and Tottenham are as well according to The Sunday Mirror.

Ings is an accomplished goalscorer. There can be no denying that.

His has a terrible track record with injuries, however.

The 28-year-old has missed an incredible 665 days through injury since the start of the 2015/16 season (Transfermarkt).

In a quirky twist of fate, Ings has played 10 times against West Ham. He has failed to score a single goal, has been on the losing side eight times. The 28-year-old is still yet to play in a side that has beaten the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

Danny Ings is not worth £30 million!

The Sunday Mirror claims that Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl could demand as much as £30 million from any club that wants to prise Ings away from St Mary’s.

That’s just too much money to be paying for an injury prone 28-year-old. He is out of contract with the Saints in 12 months tome as well!

There is far better value to be had out there for West Ham.

Adam Armstrong and Adam Hlozek spring to mind.

As mentioned earlier, Ings is a top class striker. The Hammers should avoid him at all costs if Southampton genuinely want £30 million for his services, however.
