West Ham United are being strongly linked with a move to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from Aston Villa in the summer.
Aston Villa signed Nicolo Zaniolo on loan from Galatasaray in the summer of 2023 after West Ham boss David Moyes had tried to bring him to the London Stadium.
The Hammers enjoyed a successful summer transfer window ourselves in the end, with the signings of Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alavrez, James Ward-Prowse and Konstantinos Mavropanos.
However, Moyes will definitely be looking to add further quality to his attacking ranks at the end of the season.
Zaniolo will be a very interesting option for us. He hasn’t set the world alight with Aston Villa though, with just three goals in 31 games to his name so far (Transfermarkt).
However, he hasn’t been a regular starter either, with 21 of those outings coming from the substitutes bench.
And if Zaniolo doesn’t have a future with Villa, it seems as though the Hammers could be ready to give him another chance in the Premier League…
West Ham have a secret weapon in the race to sign Nicolo Zaniolo
The former Roma man could swap the West Midlands for East London at the end of the season it seems.
According to Calciomercato.it, West Ham could make a surprise move to sign Nicolo Zaniolo from Aston Villa this summer.
The Italian media outlet claim that the Hammers have a very good relationship with the Galatasaray star’s agents, and that secret weapon may well give us a big advantage in the race to sign him.
In spite of his struggles for Villa, the 24-year-old is a world-class player in the making. Italy boss Roberto Mancini once described him as an ‘extraordinary’ player (Goal).
West Ham fans will be all too aware of his quality. The Italian scored a late equaliser for Villa against us at the London Stadium 11 days ago.
Nicolo Zaniolo is big and powerful and standing at 6ft 3in tall, he would be yet another physical presence in the West Ham side.
I reckon Moyes would be able to get a real tune out of the Italian at the London Stadium.
