West Ham’s need for a top-class centre-back in January has been well-documented already.
With Angelo Ogbonna out for the season and Kurt Zouma not expected to return for at least another four weeks or so, David Moyes absolutely must sign a quality central defender when the transfer window opens.
Niklas Süle would obviously be a sensational addition for West Ham.
The 25-year-old will be out of contract with Bayern Munich in the summer so perhaps the Bavarian giants will be prepared to sell him for a bargain fee next month.
Süle, a 37-capped Germany international, is a proven and established centre-back. He is experienced in playing at the very highest level over a prolonged period of time.
In 15 Bundesliga games this season, Süle has averaged 0.7 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 1.5 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The 25-year-old is a very good passer of the football. He averages 55.5 passes per game and has recorded a completion rate of 89.3% (Who Scored).
West Ham fans react to Niklas Süle rumour
The Bayern Munich ace is probably up there with the very best out of the all defenders we have been linked with since Ogbonna was ruled out for the season.
He has won four league titles and a Champions League with Bayern. That kind of winning mentality could prove to be a huge asset for the East London outfit.
Whether the Hammers will be able to fight off competition for the 25-year-old’s signature remains to be seen of course.
