Some West Ham fans are puzzled by David Moyes’s alleged plan to bring Wolves attacker Adama Traore to the London Stadium this month.
The Hammers boss is in desperate need of adding more fire-power to his centre-forward ranks in East London.
Michail Antonio is currently our only recognised senior striker and that quite simply isn’t good enough for a club with aspirations of challenging for honours both domestically and on the continent.
This month will be an incredibly important one for West Ham. If we are to push on for a place inside the top four in the second half of the season, at least two top-class additions will be required.
Moyes absolutely has to bring a striker and a centre-back to the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut.
And it appears as though Wolves attacker Adama Traore is on the Scot’s radar (The Telegraph).
Is the 25-year-old really the man for the job at West Ham though?
Moyes has history in converting wingers into centre-forwards. Just look at what the Scot did with Michail Antonio and Mark Arnautovic.
Surely that tactic can’t keep working, however. And more importantly, why keep trying to replicate it when there are actual centre-forwards out there on the market?
Adama is arguably the fastest player in world football and he has power in abundance. It must be said though, the Wolves man has a horrendous goalscoring record. He has just 10 goals to his name in 150 games for Wolves (Transfermarkt).
West Ham fans react to links with Wolves attacker Adama Traore
The former Barcelona man would be a really interesting addition for West Ham.
Let’s be honest though…we really should be targeting a proven goalscorer.
Some West Ham fans took to Twitter in reaction to the rumours, insisting that Moyes should be looking elsewhere…
