West Ham have made an offer for Nikola Maksimovic according to Corriere Dello Sport journalist Antonio Giordano as quoted via Area Napoli.
And some Hammers fans are not surprised that the owners are once again going for the cheap option!
David Moyes is clearly prioritising strengthening his back-line at the London Stadium.
Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are 33 and 31 respectively whilst Fabian Balbuena has already been released.
Corriere Dello Sport journalist Antonio Giordano, as quoted via Area Napoli, has claimed that Nikola Maksimovic could be an option for West Ham this summer.
In fact, it has been suggested that the Hammers have actually offered a contract to the experienced Serbian defender.
The 29-year-old is out of contract with Napoli now so his availability on a free transfer will undoubtedly appeal to the West Ham owners.
We think that Maksimovic would actually be a strong addition to the Hammers squad.
He is a grizzly, battle hardened centre-back and seems to be ideally suited to the robust nature of the Premier League.
The one bone of contention we have, however, is whether or not the Serb is Moyes’s first choice.
Would the Scot prefer Nikola Milenkovic?
If Moyes does want Maksimovic signed, we will back him to the hilt. It will be a very different story if the 29-year-old is a David Sullivan signing, however…
