Jesse Lingard could still join West Ham this summer according to Fabrizio Romano, when speaking on the Strettycast Podcast.

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season with the Hammers from Manchester United.

And what an incredible impact he had at the London Stadium.

Lingard racked up nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games for West Ham.

He played such an integral role in our sixth placed finish in the Premier League table.

Signing him up on a permanent deal is clearly one of the main priorities for David Moyes this summer.

West Ham’s hopes seemed to be dashed, however, with The Sun claiming that Manchester United are set to offer Jesse a new £130k-a-week contract in order to keep him at Old Trafford.

Whilst there is a chance that the 28-year-old will remain at Manchester United, the Hammers have been handed somewhat of a boost.

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that IF Lingard does leave Man United, the only club that he will join is West Ham, when speaking on the Strettycast Podcast:

“From what I heard, it’s West Ham or Manchester United. I don’t see him leaving for another club because he was great at West Ham. If he has to leave Manchester United, it’s to join West Ham. If not, he’s staying at Manchester United and they’re going to discuss his contract.”

Now, Jess surely has to leave Manchester United in order to play regularly over the next few years.

Bruno Fernandes is currently blocking his path to regular first-team football at Old Trafford and with Jadon Sancho potentially arriving this summer, the future looks bleak for Jesse.

A move to West Ham surely makes sense for the 28-year-old.

And Romano’s claim today surely leaves the door wide open for Lingard to swap Old Trafford for the London Stadium this summer.
