So West Ham United face a big fight on our hands in the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa set to cause us a big problem.

Julen Lopetegui has overseen some truly incredible business at West Ham in the summer transfer window, working closely alongside Tim Steidten and David Sullivan of course.

Incredibly, Lopetegui admitted just a few days ago that the Hammers’ summer business is far from finished either, with two quality players wanted in every position.

That really is an incredibly exciting prospect. The transfer window so far has been the best one that I can remember as a West Ham fan since they became a thing.

The Hammers squad now is like night and day from the one that Lopetegui inherited from David Moyes six weeks ago.

The belief is that it could continue to get even better over the next two weeks, but a report has surfaced highlighting a potentially big problem for Lopetegui and co…

West Ham blow as Villa eye 23-year-old in the summer transfer window

Lopetegui has already enjoyed a wonderful summer transfer window at the London Stadium.

Eight new signings have rocked up over the past six weeks or so, and the West Ham fans are more excited for the upcoming season than we have been for decades.

However, it seems like the summer window could be prevented from getting even better by his old mate Unai Emery.

According to a report from Takvim, Aston Villa have joined the Hammers in the race to sign Ernest Muci from Besiktas this summer.

West Ham were linked with a move to sign the 12-capped Albania international only yesterday, and Villa could now be set to try and beat us to his signature.

Muci would be a fine addition to Lopetegui’s ranks at the London Stadium as far as I’m concerned.

Sure, he’s unproven in the Premier League, but the £12 million fee required to sign him is peanuts in this day and age, and that would mitigate the risk involved in bringing him to the London Stadium.

Last season he bagged 13 goals and two assists in 51 games for Besiktas and Legia Warsaw, and he’s hot property out in Turkey.

The 12-capped Albania international has bundles of energy, is incredibly athletic and technically gifted.

His playing style is similar to ex-Arsenal star Alex Hleb in the way that he seems to float around the pitch with the ball stuck to his feet, although he has far more athleticism than the Belarusian ever had.

I’m really hoping that West Ham manage to beat Aston Villa to the signing of Ernest Muci in the summer transfer window.

However, the mere fact that the Villans are interested in signing the Albanian is bad news for us.
