West Ham face losing out on Jesse Lingard this summer with Everton keen to hijack the Hammers’ proposed deal to sign the free agent.
That’s according to claims from The Times journalist Paul Joyce who suggests that Everton boss Frank Lampard is interested in bringing Lingard to Goodison Park on a free transfer this summer.

It seems as though West Ham may well have our work cut out now though, with Everton in the race for the free agent’s signature.
Lingard spent an incredibly successful four months on loan with the Hammers during the second half of the 2020/21 season.

David Moyes absolutely loves the attacking midfielder and recently described him as an ‘incredible’ player (Claret and Hugh). Mark Noble was impressed too, and labelled Lingard as ‘phenomenal’ (Daily Mail).
Lingard would obviously be a very good fit in the current West Ham team but it now seems as though Moyes might miss out on his main summer transfer target…
Everton could scupper West Ham’s Lingard plan
The Times journalist Paul Joyce reckons that the Toffees are eyeing up a move to sing the 29-year-old after he officially became a free agent today.
He proved during his loan spell with West Ham just how effective he can be for us in our counter-attacking setup.
So losing out on his signature to Everton would obviously be a big blow for Moyes.

It may end up being a blessing in disguise though. If Everton do sign Jesse, it means that the Hammers won’t waste all summer chasing him and missing out on his signature at the death.
Lingard would undoubtedly be a big hit at Everton if he joins them.
The key here though is to move on quickly and efficiently, if it is made clear that the 29-year-old doesn’t want to return to the Hammers.
Hopefully Moyes ends up getting a better player through the door at the London Stadium.
If Everton do sign Lingard, it may end up being a blessing in disguise for West Ham. At the same time though, it would still be a bitter pill to swallow.
