Manchester United are ‘taking steps’ to sign West Ham United transfer target Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo in January.

That’s according to a report from Il Resto del Carlino who claim that Manchester United have had scouts monitoring the Italian midfielder this season.

Hammers boss David Moyes is allegedly keen to bring the Italy international to the London Stadium according to the likes of FcInterNews.

In fact, West Ham made an approach to sign the £20 million-rated Sassuolo ace just before the summer transfer window.

It’s a shame that we failed to get a deal done for him then, because Manchester United could now be a big problem for us, according to the latest round of reports.

With Erik ten Hag apparently keen to bring the Italian to Old Trafford, it may well be game over for the Hammers…

West Ham face Manchester United competition for David Frattesi in January

Italian publication Il Resto del Carlino claims that Man United were the first club to send a scout to follow the 23-year-old Sassuolo star closely.

The Red Devils’ interest in Frattesi is obviously a big blow for West Ham. I would’ve to see Moyes reunite the 23-year-old with Gianluca Scamacca at the London Stadium.

The two Italians are apparently best friends, and have ‘followed each other everywhere’.

It seems as though Manchester United could hold the upper hand on West Ham in the January pursuit of Davide Frattesi though.

He is an orthodox central midfielder by trade but he can also operate in the number 10 position.

The 23-year-old bagged four goals and three assists in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo last season (Who Scored).

During those outings, Frattesi averaged 1.3 tackles, one interception and 1.3 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Italian ace made 34 passes on average per match and recorded an impressive 83.7% completion rate (Who Scored).

He has four goals in 15 Serie A games for Sassuolo to his name this season (Who Scored).

Frattesi is an incredibly good footballer with impressive technical ability, a fine engine and an attitude of the very highest level.

He was recently described as a ‘super talented’ midfielder by Fabrizio Romano.

We would absolutely love to see the Italian arrive at the London Stadium. And we might still have a good chance of doing that, with Frattesi’s ex-teammate Gianluca Scamacca now at the club.

Manchester United showing interest in signing Davide Frattesi in the January transfer window will undoubtedly represent a big problem for West Ham though.
