Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United could both be about to cause West Ham United a big problem in the January transfer window.

West Ham, Tottenham and Newcastle are all extremely active in the January transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo, Thomas Frank and Eddie Howe are desperate for reinforcements before the winter window slams shut.

West Ham are expected to make at least two more signings before the January window closes.

What was the point in this then? 🤔

The key now for Nuno will be to bring in a commanding centre-back who can help tighten up the Hammers’ leaky backline.

West Ham have conceded more goals than any other team in the Premier League this season.

One of Nuno’s targets would be absolutely perfect for West Ham and, indeed, the robust and aggressive nature of Premier League football.

However, there may be trouble ahead for the Hammers.

Tottenham and Newcastle could sign colossal West Ham target

Nuno will be desperate to strengthen his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut.

Now West Ham have been dealt a very big blow indeed.

That’s because Rudy Galetti has now claimed that Tottenham and Newcastle have both thrown their hats into the ring in the race to sign Tiago Gabriel.

If those claims are true, convincing the Brazilian to join the Hammers may well be an impossible task.

That’s a real shame because the 21-year-old is exactly the kind of centre-back West Ham need right now.

West Ham have been linked with a £22 million move to sign Tiago Gabriel for two months now.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Tiago Gabriel would be a huge asset for West Ham when defending set plays, and he would be a major attacking threat from corners and free-kicks as well.

In 19 Serie A appearances for Lecce this season, the Portuguese centre-back has averaged 1.8 tackles, one interception, 6.4 clearances and 3.9 successful aerial duels per game.

He has made 39 passes per match and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 89.1% (Who Scored).

Unfortunately for West Ham, Tottenham and Newcastle are now said to be in the race for Tiago Gabriel’s signature.

And the sad thing is, the Hammers could have got a deal done for him so much sooner, had they simply upped their offer from £16 million to £22 million.
