West Ham United are allegedly preparing to bring in a big upgrade on right-back Vladimir Coufal in the January transfer window.
David Moyes has a few areas of his West Ham squad to address in the January transfer window, with the addition of a new right-back featuring right at the top of his wish-list.
Vladimir Coufal has been a solid performer for the Hammers over the past few years, but he quite obviously has limitations – pace and power especially.
It’s been a tough few days for the 31-year-old, after he was banished from the Czech Republic camp following a serious breach of the team rules.
And now it seems like he could be ousted from his regular right-back starting spot at the London Stadium.
It’s seemingly going from bad to worse for Coufal right now…

West Ham eyeing new right-back in January
According to a report from Fichajes, Celta Vigo right-back Oscar Mingueza is firmly on the Hammers’ radar this winter, and he could be available for around £17 million.
Now, the 24-year-old would be a truly huge upgrade on Coufal, there is absolutely no doubt about that.
In 12 La Liga appearances for Celta Vigo this season, he has averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.8 dribbles and 1.6 key passes per game.
Mingueza is quicker, more athletic and far better going forward than Coufal, so signing him for £17 million in January should be an absolute no-brainer for Moyes.
The Spanish right-back raved about West Ham recently as well amidst links with a January move to the London Stadium, labelling us as a ‘great team’ (TEAMtalk).
Mingueza is an exceptional talent and he possesses all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League, what with its robust nature and intense speed.
Let’s hope that Moyes manages to sign the Spain international this winter – he’d definitely take us to a whole new level entirely.
