Hammers boss David Moyes is well-known to be on the look-out for central defensive reinforcements at the London Stadium this summer.
Kurt Zouma and Nikola Milenkovic are believed to be West Ham’s two main priorities this summer (ExWHUemployee).
So the Hammers may well now be pursuing alternate transfer targets.
West Ham eyeing Flavius Daniliuc
The 20-year-old Nice centre-back is on the Hammers’ radar according to a report from The Daily Mail.
The young Austrian is a really exciting talent.
In 23 Ligue 1 outings for Nice last season, Daniliuc averaged one tackle, 0.6 interceptions and 1.3 clearances per game. He also won an average of 0.7 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The 20-year-old is still a long way from being the finished article, however.
If West Ham are going to sign a centre-back this summer, Moyes needs to make sure that he brings in an established defender who is ready to make an impact straight away in East London.
We have plenty of talented young central defenders coming through the ranks at the London Stadium after all.
We’re fully on board with Moyes making young and exciting additions with one eye on the future.
As things stand, however, the signing of Daniliuc just wouldn’t make much sense right now.
