West Ham are eyeing a new striker target as sources claim contact has been made for wonderkid Semih Kilicsoy.

If there was any doubt West Ham need to sign another forward in the January transfer window it was put to bed in the FA Cup exit at Bristol City.

West Ham boss David Moyes admitted to Les Ferdinand in a live TV interview before the window opened that he is on the lookout for a new forward.

But the Scot claimed there is a dearth of top talent available in that position.

Michail Antonio, who is expected to be out for another four weeks at least, turns 34 in March.

New striker target eyed

Danny Ings has – regardless of who is to blame – been a flop since signing for the Hammers for £15m this time last year. And after another dreadful display at Bristol, Ings is expected to leave this month.

Youngster Divin Mubama has looked well out of his depth when given extended chances of late.

The Hammers have been linked with a host of forwards again this month including the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Armando Broja and Serhou Guirassy.

Well now West Ham are eyeing a new striker target as sources claim contact has been made for wonderkid Semih Kilicsoy.

‘West Ham have made an enquiry with Besiktas’

Turkish Football claims sources have told them West Ham have expressed an interest to cash-strapped Besiktas in signing 18-year-old goal machine Kilicsoy.

“The Hammers have become the latest side to join the race for the young striker,” the report states.

“West Ham made an enquiry for Kilicsoy but have yet to make a formal offer.

“The Premier League outfit have been scouting Kilicsoy who continues to shine at Besiktas…

“The Black Eagles are not in a strong financial position so would have to at least consider serous offers for the forward.”

Likened to his idol Aguero

Kilicsoy perfectly fits Tim Steidten’s recruitment philosophy at West Ham.

The powerful forward has been likened to his idol Sergio Aguero.

He is both-footed and can play across the forward line as well as attacking midfield.

Kilicsoy already has five goals and two assists in five starts for Besiktas in his breakthrough season so far.

And he is already being tipped to lead the line for Turkey at this summer’s Euros.
