West Ham could try to sign Nice defender Flavius Daniliuc in the January transfer window according to a report from The Athletic.
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium next month.
The Scot needs to sign a top-class centre-forward, an established centre-back and now a left-back as well.
Aaron Cresswell has been out injured since last month and Claret and Hugh reckon that he could still be out for some time yet.
West Ham have really missed the 32-year-old during his injury absence. And finding a long-term replacement for the Liverpool-born left-back will be crucial.
Arthur Masuaku clearly isn’t good enough to fill in for Cresswell and Moyes must realise that now, and judging by the latest reports, he does…
West Ham plot January deal for Flavius Daniliuc
The Athletic claims that the Hammers could try to sign the 20-year-old Nice star in January.
Now, Daniliuc is a left-sided centre-back by trade but crucially, he can also play in the left-back position.
With West Ham’s need for a left-footed centre-back AND a left-back, the Austrian may well be the perfect January signing for Moyes.
Daniliuc joined Nice from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020 and has been a real hit at the Allianz Riviera.
In 10 Ligue 1 outings for Nice this season, the 20-year-old has averaged 1.3 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per match (Who Scored).
He has made 26.2 passes on average per game and has recorded an 87.8% completion rate (Who Scored).
Flavius Daniliuc is supremely talented. He stands at 6ft 2in tall and is built like a brick wall. He seems to be ideally suited to the robust and intense nature of Premier League football.
Quite how much it will take to prise the young Austrian away from Nice remains to be seen.
Whatever his price may be, let’s just hope that Moyes manages to get this one done. Considering the fact that he can play at LCB and LB, the Scot could kills two birds with one stone next month.
