Chelsea could be about to end any hopes West Ham United had of enjoying the perfect summer transfer window.

In all fairness, West Ham have already had a 9/10 summer transfer window, but Chelsea could well stop it from becoming a 10/10.

Julen Lopetegui has brought eight new players to the London Stadium over the past couple of months, and the Hammers boss is apparently after even more signings before deadline day.

The Spaniard is pretty well covered in most departments, but there are a couple of positions that still need some improvement.

Centre-forward is definitely one of those positions, with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings both well past their best.

The absolutely ideal striker is out there for West Ham, and he’s very much available. However, a very big problem has just arisen for the Hammers.

West Ham Ivan Toney hopes dashed by Chelsea

Ivan Toney is all set to leave Brentford before the transfer window slams shut.

The 28-year-old is one of the best in the business, and he definitely would make a big difference for a top six Premier League club – that’s how good he is.

It has actually been claimed that Ivan Toney would be keen to join West Ham, but our chances of signing him now look bleak to say the least.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Chelsea have now entered the race to sign the former Newcastle United and Peterborough United striker.

Toney has been described as ‘world-class’ (talkSPORT), and on his day, he certainly is one of the best at what he does in world football.

The England international has bagged 72 goals and 23 assists in 141 games for the Bees, and he is one of the strongest strikers in world football aerially.

Ivan Toney is a lethal finisher, and has the ability to play at the very highest level of the game.

Oh yes, and he’s arguably the best penalty taker in the game as well!

Sure, he has a questionable attitude, but all great players have an edge, and the 28-year-old’s skillset will make him a game-changing player for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

Ivan Toney is literally the perfect striker for West Ham. Whilst our chances of signing him were already fading fast as it was, Chelsea entering the race would completely end our hopes of bringing him to the London Stadium.
