A really interesting update has just been shared on West Ham United’s chances of signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer.

Ivan Toney has been on the West Ham radar for quite some time now, but it was claimed towards the end of the last year that we’ve finally given up trying to sign him.

It appears as though that’s now not the case though, as Alex Crook gives his exciting new take on the situation.

Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to sign an established centre-forward in the summer transfer window.

The Scot has been far too reliant on Michail Antonio for way too long now, and that needs to change going forward.

Judging by the latest claims it seems as though Moyes is determined to bring in a proper long-term replacement for the Jamaica international…

Ivan Toney update should get the West Ham fans very excited

The Brentford forward looks almost certain to leave the west London outfit when the summer transfer window opens.

But could the Hammers really sign the prolific front-man?

Many would think that there is no chance of us bringing him to East London, but it seems as though it could actually be a very real possibility.

Crook told the Premier League All Access podcast how Toney coming to the London Stadium this season is a real possibility:

“Interestingly on West Ham, I was told this week they are serious contenders for the signature of Ivan Toney, who maybe we thought might be snapped up by a bigger club in the Premier League – it shows how ambitious the owners are.”

Wow, that is great news. Toney would be absolutely incredible for the Hammers, in spite of his obvious attitude flaws.

There are undoubtedly those who will say they wouldn’t want the 28-year-old anywhere near the club, after his continual admissions about wanting to leave Brentford to join a bigger club.

However, that’s just part and parcel of dealing with mercurial talents. We had the same before with Marko Arnautovic and Dimitri Payet, and every Hammers fan would surely love to have players like that at the club now.

The England international has bagged 72 goals and 21 assists in 134 games for the Bees (Transfermarkt). He is one of the strongest around in the air and is a lethal finisher.

If West Ham sign Ivan Toney this summer, we’ll have a seriously potent attacking lineup.
