Central defence is obviously an area at the London Stadium where David Moyes wants to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

West Ham close in on deal to sign Nayef Aguerd

The Evening Standard and The Daily Mail reckon that it could be just a matter of time before the 26-year-old Rennes ace officially becomes a Hammers player.

And what a superb signing Aguerd will be for West Ham in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been described as a brilliant defender by Get Football News France.

And he’s left-footed so is the ideal long-term replacement for Angelo Ogbonna.

In 31 Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes this season, Aguerd averaged one interception, one tackle and 4.1 clearances per game. He also won 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

The Morocco international made 71.7 passes per game on average and recorded an impressive completion rate of 89% (Who Scored).

Aguerd possesses exceptional ball-playing ability as well and this would help increase our resistance to the press from the opposition.

He could be available for just £13 million this summer according to (The Evening Standard). That would represent exceptional value for the Hammers.

And if West Ham do wrap up a deal to sign Aguerd within the next few days, it will be a great way for Moyes to kick off his summer transfer business.
