West Ham United want to sign Piero Hincapie this summer, but we could face competition from Liverpool for his signature this summer.

According to a report from Fussball Transfers, Piero Hincapie is firmly on the radars of both West Ham and Liverpool this summer transfer window.

Hammers boss David Moyes urgently needs to bring a top-class central defender to the London Stadium before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st.

And it seems as though Moyes could now switch tack from targeting an experienced Premier League player to a young centre-back from the Bundesliga…

West Ham could beat Liverpool to ‘South America’s best young defender’ Piero Hincapie

Tim Steidten is said to be a big fan of the Ecuador international, and the Hammers have not broken contact with the Bayer Leverkusen ace over the past few months.

What an incredible signing Hincape would be for West Ham.

The wonderkid has been dubbed as South America’s best young defender (Goal), and it’s easy to see why.

He is a centre-back by trade, but can also operate at left-back if need be.

In 30 Bundesliga outings last season, Hincapie averaged 1.7 tackles, one interception, 2.5 clearances and two successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored). During those appearances, the Ecuadorian made 55.7 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 83.2% (Who Scored).

He is superb with the ball at his feet and I think he’d be a massive signing for us – a really big statement move from the club.

I would absolutely love Piero Hincapie to join West Ham this summer. Let’s just hope that we manage to beat Liverpool to his signature.
