West Ham could be dealt big blow with Leeds ready to sign 23-year-old midfielder for just £10 million

Leeds could be set to deal a big blow to West Ham by signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien for around £10 million in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is trying to bring the 23-year-old ace to Elland Road before the start of next season.

Meanwhile, TeamTALK have claimed that Hammers manager David Moyes wants to bring the Huddersfield ace to the London Stadium this summer.

Mark Noble has now retired whilst Alex Kral will almost certainly be sent back to Spartak Moscow after an underwhelming loan spell at the London Stadium.

Signing a top-class central midfielder with youth on his side will be pivotal for West Ham this summer but it seems as though Leeds could be a big problem for us…

Leeds eyeing move to sign West Ham target in the summer transfer window

The Sun reckon that the Whites are ready to make a £10 million bid to sign Huddersfield Town midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

And missing out to Leeds on the 23-year-old would be a big blow for West Ham.

Huddersfield are currently chasing promotion to the top flight and the 23-year-old has played a key role for them this season.

They face Nottingham Forest in the play-off final this afternoon and should they win, they will much more likely be able to keep hold of him.

He is very versatile and can play in central midfield or at left-back or left-wing.

O’Brien has bagged three goals and three assists in 45 Championship outings for the Terriers. During those appearances, the Colchester-born star has averaged 2.2 tackles, one dribble and one clearance per game. He has made 38.9 passes per match on average and has recorded a 78.2% pass completion rate (Who Scored).

He obviously has a lot of talent and his versatility will undoubtedly appeal to West Ham and Leeds.

The Huddersfield ace has the kind of ability needed to succeed in the Premier League and he certainly has the talent needed to go on and become a truly top-class player, as long as he continues to apply himself properly off the pitch of course…

We think that £10 million would be great value for O’Brien. He is exactly the kind of signing that West Ham should be making. If the 23-year-old ends up plying his trade at Elland Road next season though, the Hammers may well regret not having pushed harder to sign him.
