West Ham United are allegedly set to battle it out with Chelsea and Tottenham to sign Manchester City defender Nathan Ake this summer.

That’s according to a report from 90 Min who claim that City will demand a ‘sizeable’ fee for the 27-year-old West Ham, Chelsea and Tottenham target.

The Hammers, the Blues and Spurs are all keen to bolster their respective defensive departments before the start of next season.

David Moyes has already done exactly that by signing Nayef Aguerd from Rennes.

However, the Scot may well be keen to add more strength in depth in the left-back department, and considering the fact that Ake can play in both the full-back and centre-back positions, a move to sign the Dutchman would make sense…

Chelsea and Tottenham will clearly have something to say about that though…

West Ham, Chelsea and Tottenham chase summer Ake deal

90 Min claim that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is now prepared to sell the 27-year-old defender this summer, although he will demand a ‘sizeable’ fee.

And West Ham, Chelsea and Tottenham are all eyeing up moves for the defender.

City signed Ake from Bournemouth for around £40 million back in 2020 (BBC).

The Dutchman has not featured regularly for Pep Guardiola, however, since moving to the Etihad. Ake has made just 19 Premier League starts for Man City.

So a move away from City in the summer would make sense for all parties involved.

Ake would be a great addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature. He has a key attribute that Moyes, Tuchel and Conte are all after as well – the fact that he is left-footed!

Standing at just 5ft 11 in, the former Chelsea ace isn’t the tallest of centre-backs but he has a great leap and is very strong in the air. He’s quick along the ground as well.

Ake is a very strong tackler and has impressive positional awareness.

The 25-capped Holland international can operate as a left-back as well. And that will be the main reason why David Moyes wants to sign him.

Eurosport claimed in January that Ake actually wanted to move to the London Stadium from The Etihad in order to play under David Moyes.

However, it now seems that West Ham will face strong competition from Tottenham and Chelsea for the signing of Nathan Ake this summer.
