West Ham United have burst back into action with bids made for a striker and centre-back as speculation swirls over targets.

After a pretty quiet week and a half by West Ham’s standards this summer, the club looks to be well and truly stepping up its transfer activity.

The Hammers brought in Max Kilman 11 days ago now and are targeting another five signings this summer.

With four weeks to go until the start of the season and around six until the window shuts, that means West Ham must average around a signing a week to give Julen Lopetegui the squad he wants.

West Ham confirmed to Hammers News that a striker is the primary target right now.

But the top source inside the club also confirmed the board will not pay Villa’s £35m asking price for Jhon Duran.

West Ham confirmed Duran is one of many forwards Tim Steidten and Lopetegui are looking at.

Another centre-back is also on the agenda for the Hammers along with a versatile full-back, central midfielder and left-sided attacker.

West Ham burst back into action with bids

The Hammers have seen a £25m bid rejected for Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth according to the likes of Football Espana.

Sorloth, who used to play for Palace, scored 26 goals in 41 games for Villarreal last season.

It is claimed Villarreal pointed West Ham in the direction of Sorloth’s £32m release clause if they want to be taken seriously.

Reporting on West Ham’s move for the Norwegian striker, The Daily Mail added some exciting information.

Because the report claims the Hammers are still interested in trying to sign Atletico Madrid powerhouse forward Samu Omorodion.

Hammers News first brought you news of West Ham’s interest in signing Omorodion back in April.

But when Chelsea entered the running and raised the price, it appeared to rule West Ham out.

Atletico are said to have some financial restrictions which mean they must sell to buy.

The prospect of signing Omorodion had excited many West Ham fans who feel he could be just what the club needs as a focal point up front.

Striker and centre-back two of many West Ham moves in progress

The new report claims West Ham could yet turn to the burly and pacy 23-year-old Spaniard after the Sorloth rejection while listing Duran and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as targets too.

The bid for Sorloth is not the only one West Ham technical director Steidten has lodged, though.

Because the likes of Get French Football News and Sports Zone claim West Ham are now in talks with Red Bull Salzburg to sign centre-back Oumar Solet.

Hammers News reported earlier this week that 24-year-old French centre-back Solet had sent a come-and-get-me plea to West Ham.

With Jean Clair Todibo looking to join Juve rather than the Hammers, Solet is now Steidten and Lopetegui’s top target to partner Max Kilman.

As well as those bids being made, West Ham are also being linked with a number of other deals.

There is growing belief that the Hammers will move to sign Man United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka instead of Kyle Walker-Peters.

Wan-Bissaka’s agent is Will Salthouse – who is close with West Ham majority owner David Sullivan and his sons.

Yesterday Hammers News exclusively revealed Salthouse is pleading with Sullivan directly to sign Wan-Bissaka.

The Hammers are also being linked with Juve’s Matias Soule, Scott McTominay, Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson and AC Milan’s Alexis Saelemaekers.

Although Soule and McTominay are looking increasingly unlikely with Roma in for the former and Man United said to be considering extending the latter’s contract.
