West Ham are scouting three targets to replace star Declan Rice according to a new report and one in particular is seriously exciting.

As fans know only too well the clock is well and truly ticking down on the moment Declan Rice leaves West Ham this summer.

A host of clubs have been linked with Arsenal looking the favourites after the Hammers skipper rejected the biggest contract in West Ham history.

Attentions behind the scenes at West Ham have turned to his replacement for some time now.

The likes of Man City flop Kalvin Phillips and Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have been linked as replacements.

Lazio have instructed Milinkovic-Savic’s agent to find a buyer at around £35m and West Ham have reportedly lodged their interest.

But now West Ham’s potential plans are allegedly focused on other names too.

West Ham are scouting three targets to replace star Rice according to a new report and one in particular is seriously exciting.

The Mail claims the Hammers are ‘doing their homework’ by scouting three midfield stars to replace their skipper.

They are said to be teenage Man City starlet Carlos Borges, Bristol City and England youth star Alex Scott and one that will really get the juices flowing – PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare.

The report claims West Ham went to watch Scott in action for England Under 20s against France last week where he was sadly injured.

Hammers fans who followed the summer window rumour mill will know West Ham were heavily linked with Sangare.

The likes of The Daily Mail and Calciomercato claimed West Ham were pushing to sign Sangare from PSV Eindhoven in a £25m deal during the summer.

And the reports stated the defensive midfielder – who has been described as ‘poetry in motion’ – wanted to join the Hammers.

Any chance West Ham had of signing Sangare were extinguished when he signed a new deal with PSV before the summer transfer deadline.

However, there were claims almost immediately after Sangare signed that deal that it was simply PSV’s way of ensuring they got true value when selling him as his contract was running down.

Indeed reports after Sangare penned the extension claimed West Ham are ‘not put off’ by his new contract.

Journalist Santi Aouna claimed news of Sangare’s new deal had not ‘scared West Ham off’.

It has since emerged that the extension was merely an agreement between Sangare and PSV to ensure the club received market value for their star man.

With West Ham expected to demand as much as £100m for Rice, they will certainly have the money to afford the Ivory Coast international.

Of course all of this is entirely dependent on West Ham staying in the Premier League. And we took a big step towards that goal with the 1-0 win over Southampton on Sunday.
