West Ham United are said to be battling Everton for £13 million Joan Gonzalez in the January transfer window.
That’s according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport who claim that West Ham and Everton are both chasing the 20-year-old Lecce ace’s signature this winter.
David Moyes and Frank Lampard will both be keen to bolster their central midfield ranks at the London Stadium and Goodison Park respectively in January.
And Joan Gonzalez would be an exciting addition for either West Ham or Everton in my opinion.

The Toffees were the first side to show interest in the 20-year-old Spanish midfielder, but now the Hammers have joined the race.
So where will Gonzalez be plying his trade after the new year?

The 20-year-old Lecce starlet his on the radars of both the Hammers and the Toffees ahead of the January window according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite West Ham’s poor league position, I believe that we are in a far better position to win the race for Gonzalez.
David Moyes has a far better squad at his disposal. The Hammers are playing European football and play in front of 62,000 fans at the London Stadium every other week.
The route to regular first-team football in the central midfield department doesn’t have as many obstacles at West Ham as it does at Everton in my opinion.
Declan Rice could soon be on his way and Tomas Soucek hasn’t performed very well for at least 12 months.

Juventus are chasing the Spaniard as well, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but they have not yet made a move for him.
Joan Gonzalez is under contract with Lecce until the summer of 2027, and the Italian club are allegedly prepared to sell him for around €15 million (£13 million) in January.
With West Ham battling Everton for the 20-year-old, it’s clear that he is a man in high demand this winter.
Where he ends up playing his football next year remains to be seen though.
