West Ham United are once again exploring a potential transfer for Harry Maguire from Manchester United this summer.

According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is still very much on the West Ham radar in the summer transfer window.

The East London outfit actually had a deal agreed to sign the 30-year-old Man United centre-back, but he caused the transfer to collapse after he demanded an excessive payoff from his parent club.

Since then, Hammers boss David Moyes has bolstered his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium with the signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos.

That doesn’t mean that the Scot’s central defensive rebuild is done though, far from it in fact…

The Hammers could be set to make yet another attempt to sign Maguire from Man United, this time on loan.

Moyes has always been a huge fan of Maguire, so it really wouldn’t be a surprise at all if the Scot brought him to East London before Friday’s deadline.

Dharmesh Sheth tweeted:

I would take Maguire joining us on loan all day long, and twice on Sunday.

The 30-year-old is an elite central defender, despite what some so-called fans would have you believe, and he is perfectly suited to play for the Hammers, with David Moyes setting up his team with a deep backline.

Maguire’s teammate Luke Shaw described him as ‘unbelievable’ recently (The Mirror), and on his day I firmly believe that he’s one of the very best around.

There is more than enough space for Harry Maguire at the London Stadium with Angelo Ogbonna now on the wrong side of 35 and Kurt Zouma always seeming to struggle with injuries.

Having Maguire would enable Moyes to play with three at the back as well, even if two of his centre-backs are injured or suspended.

West Ham sealing a loan transfer for the England international would cap off what has already been a truly sensational window for us.
