Harry Maguire could still join West Ham with Manchester United set to sign three-time Premier League winner.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was actually close to leaving Old Trafford to join West Ham earlier on in the summer transfer window.

West Ham’s move to sign the 30-year-old defender collapsed in the end due to his pay-off demands to Man United.

Hammers boss David Moyes has since gone on to bring Konstantinos Mavropanos the London Stadium.

However, with Kurt Zouma being incredibly injury prone and Angelo Ogbonna on the wrong side of 35, the addition of another centre-back may well be a smart move from Moyes.

And the door could be wide open for the Scot to do just that…

According to The Telegraph, Man United are set to offer Jonny Evans a one-year deal. With another centre-back available to Erik ten Hag, Maguire will fall even further down the pecking order under the Dutchman.

And I really wouldn’t be surprised to see the Hammers come back in for the 30-year-old England international.

I’ve already touched upon the need for another central defender at the London Stadium, but what I haven’t mentioned is that if Moyes sets up with three centre-backs, he won’t have much in reserve if one of Nayef Aguerd, Kurt Zouma or Konstantinos Mavropanos suffer an injury.

I have said time and time again that Manchester United defender Harry Maguire would be a superb signing for West Ham.

His leadership skills, aerial ability and all-around solid defending when playing as part of a deep backline would make us incredibly hard to impenetrate.

With Jonny Evans apparently being offered a one-year deal with Man United, I think that Maguire leaving to join the Hammers, even on loan, would be a no brainer for him and both clubs.
