Vladimir Coufal could be finished at West Ham as David Moyes eyes move to sign 23-year-old Italian

Vladimir Coufal could well be finished as a West Ham United first-team regular when this season finishes.

West Ham right-back Vladimir Coufal has actually been pretty solid on the whole for us this season, but he recently incurred the wrath of the Hammers fans when he suggested that the London Stadium faithful expect too much.

David Moyes clearly trusts the 31-year-old, but that might be because he has no other reliable options in the right-back department.

That could all be about to change though. According to a report from Toro News, Torino right-back Raoul Bellanova is firmly on West Ham’s radar, and we will need to pay around £21 million to sign him this summer.

The Italian is a proper modern day full-back, and he can get up and down the right hand flank for the duration of the 90 minutes.

If he comes in to the London Stadium this summer, Coufal may well find himself either struggling for regular game-time, or on his way out of the club…

Vladimir Coufal could be finished at West Ham

The Czech Republic international definitely doesn’t have the pace and explosiveness required to be an elite Premier League full-back anymore.

He’ll be 32 in the summer, and it will be a good time for the Hammers to cash in on him as far as I’m concerned, especially if we do sign Bellanova.

Let’s not forget as well, Coufal was recently handed a one-year contract extension – but the 31-year-old was unhappy because he thinks he’s deserving of a longer term deal.

Coufal has made 34 starts in all competitions for West Ham so far this season (Who Scored) – only James Ward-Prowse has more for us.

He’s bagged six assists in the Premier League as well – so it’s hard to suggest that he’s been anything other than very good for us this term.

However, those who watch Vladimir Coufal regularly will know that West Ham can definitely make a big upgrade in the right-back position this summer.

And I firmly believe that signing someone like Raoul Bellanova is exactly what we need to do if we are to make the jump up to the next level.
