Tim Steidten has had spies at a big game watching an exciting West Ham United target a CEO admitted could leave.

West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten was widely regarded to have overseen one of the best windows in the Premier League during the summer.

Now all eyes are on how he can do in the January transfer window against the backdrop of West Ham needing to sell off fringe players before being able to buy.

Hammers News has reported confirmation from inside the club that West Ham do intend to be active.

Just so long as a number of their fringe players can be offloaded to make space in the squad and satisfy FFP rules over wages-to-turnover.

David Moyes has suggested he does not need to sign a new forward. West Ham fans would not agree given the lack of quality beyond Jarrod Bowen.

Given the Scot’s own future at the club beyond this season is still up in the air, we cannot read too much into his transfer comments. Particularly given Steidten is the man heading up recruitment now.

One forward being consistently linked with West Ham is Stuttgart’s 17-goal star Serhou Guirassy.

And Steidten had spies at a big game watching the exciting West Ham target a CEO admits could leave.

According to talkSPORT, while the Hammers were beating Wolves 3-0, transfer chief Steidten had scouts travel to his homeland Germany to watch the 27-year-old striker when Stuttgart played Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions put Stuttgart to the sword 3-0. And it is claimed Fulham and Man United also had scouts at the game.

CEO has admitted Guirassy could leave

It comes after Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth admitted to some difficult arguments with Guirassy over his future.

And he confirmed Guirassy refused to allow Stuttgart to buy out his contract – which contains a bargain £17m release clause.

If West Ham do want to sign Guirassy in January – and can raise the bargain £17m – they have plenty in their favour over other interested clubs.

The lure of London, Guirassy being guaranteed more game time and European football for starters.

Then there is the Steidten factor in negotiations as well as the fact lines of communication are already open between the Hammers and Stuttgart after the deal which took Konstantinos Mavropanos to east London for £17m in the summer.
