So West Ham United apparently won’t be signing Matias Soule from Juventus this summer it seems.

However, the reason for that is one that will surely get the West Ham fans really excited.

Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui has been heavily linked with a move to sign Matias Soule this summer, with Juventus demanding around £30 million for him.

However, it now seems like Roma are close to agreeing a deal to bring the 21-year-old winger to the Italian capital this summer, according to Juve FC.

The South American star would have been a big statement signing for the Hammers, there’s no doubt about that.

So it’s understandable that some West Ham fans might be disappointed by the news that he could be Roma bound, but fear not West Ham fans…

The reason why he’s not heading to the London Stadium this summer is actually a really encouraging one it seems…

The real and reason why West Ham aren’t signing Matias Soule

Soule is a real talent, and at just 21, he will undoubtedly reach the highest level of the game, both at international and club level.

The Argentinian ace possesses blistering pace and is an incredibly gifted technician.

Soule has proven already that he’s more than good enough to make a difference for Juventus, so he surely would for the Hammers as well.

However, he’s a left-footed right winger – a position we don’t need to strengthen and a player profile we have plenty of.

Lopetegui already has Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Luis Guilherme and even Maxwel Cornet who can play out wide on the right.

The addition of a right-footed left winger is much more needed right now, and it seems as though that’s the real reason why Lopetegui didn’t push for the signing of Soule.

According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham are trying to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, and that’s why our interest in Soule cooled.

I have to say, that’s hugely exciting, and not because the Juventus star isn’t a top player – he quite clearly is.

I just think Summerville is just as good, and he plays in a position where we’re crying out for reinforcements right now.

The Hammers have been strongly linked with signing the 22-year-old Leeds winger over the past few months.

Summerville bagged an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United last season, and he’s available for around £30 million – the same fee that Juve were demanding from West Ham for Matias Soule.

Give me Summerville every single day of the week thank you very much.
