After being long linked with Wilfried Gnonto a journalist claims West Ham are eyeing a new Leeds star ahead of a Lucas Paqueta deal.
West Ham have been heavily linked with Leeds United’s Italian attacker Wilfried Gnonto in recent windows.
A journalist who is one of the top sources for Leeds news claimed in January the Hammers wanted Gnonto.
That deal never materialised as West Ham – like most clubs across Europe – limited spending in the winter window due to financial uncertainty over PSR.
It’s one of football’s worst kept secrets that West Ham will be selling Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City this summer.
Paqueta still expected to leave West Ham for Man City
That’s if the FA case against him over betting – which he strenuously denies – is concluded in his favour by then.
Leeds know all about the difficulties of keeping a player when Man City enter the equation.
Although West Ham are – for the timebeing – suffering the after effects of their decision to sell Kalvin Phillips to City.
Paqueta almost joined Man City last summer until the accusations emerged.
The deal to take the Brazilian magnifico to the Etihad looks inevitable this summer, though, after a revelation about Bernardo Silva’s release clause.
With Paqueta looking likely to depart West Ham will need replacements.
He has spent most of the season on the left wing, much to his and supporters’ frustrations at times.
The plan ultimately is for Mohammed Kudus to take Paqueta’s in a more central role.
So that would require a signing on the left for the Hammers. And that’s where Leeds come in it seems.

Journalist claims West Ham want Summerville
Because a journalist claims West Ham are eyeing a new Leeds star in the shape of Crysencio Summerville ahead of a Paqueta deal.
Speaking on HITC Graeme Bailey claims West Ham have been impressed when watching jet-heeled Leeds ace Summerville up close.
Bailey says West Ham are one of the clubs that want to sign Summerville despite Leeds’ hopes he will extend his contract at Elland Road beyond 2026 IF they are promoted back to the Premier League.
Dutch Under 21 star Summerville is not just one of the best players in the Championship, he is statistically the best player.
Electric Leeds winger is the best player in the Championship
The 22-year-old electric winger has been superb for Leeds with 17 goals and eight assists in 37 league games this season.
If Paqueta stays it’s quite simple – West Ham probably don’t need Summerville.
But if he does leave then West Ham will be armed with sizeable transfer funds.
If Leeds do not get promoted they will almost certainly be forced to sell Summerville.
So West Ham fans may be keeping a close eye on the Championship promotion race from here on in in the hope of landing a bargain.
You can check out some of Summerville’s best moments below to see what West Ham might be able to expect.
