That’s according to a report from The Athletic who claim that the Dutch left-back is a key transfer target for David Moyes this summer.

The Scot desperately needs to bring in a new left-back to take over from Aaron Cresswell at the London Stadium this summer.

The 32-year-old has been a fine servant for West Ham but it is clear to see that he has regressed exponentially over the past 12 months.

If the Hammers are to make some genuine progress over the next few years, upgrading on Cresswell will be absolutely vital.

And it seems as though Moyes has a really exciting plan up his sleeve to do exactly that…

West Ham line up Owen Wijndal swoop

The Athletic reckon that the Hammers are targeting a bold move to sign the 22-year-old AZ Alkmaar ace.

Football Oranje claims that Wijndal is available for just €10 million (£8.6 million) this summer.

That would be outstanding value for West Ham and we would absolutely love to see the Dutchman arrive at the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

The 22-year-old possesses absolutely everything needed to succeed in the Premier League. He has bags of pace, power, tenacity and plays with a real kind of high-octane energy.

In 31 Eredivisie games for AZ Alkmaar last season, Wijndal bagged one goal and 10 assists. During those outings, the left-back averaged 1.4 tackles, one interception and 1.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Holland international is a truly elite left-back in the making. In fact, he’s already one of the best on the continent.

The 22-year-old would undoubtedly be a huge upgrade on Cresswell, that goes without saying.

This is one that the Hammers fans really should be excited about.

And if West Ham sign Owen Wijndal for just £8.6 million this summer, it would have to go down as outstanding business for the East London outfit.
