That’s according to reporter Matt Law.

Writing in The Telegraph, Law claims Rice’s blockbuster move to Arsenal is a ‘step closer’.
And he names James Ward-Prowse, Harvey Barnes and Edson Alvarez as the three players the Hammers want to bring to the London Stadium.
Law says West Ham are leading the race for £30m Barnes from Leicester. And he explains that Alvarez and Ward-Prowse are being targeted to fill the Rice void in different ways.
“The club want to spend the Rice windfall on Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes and midfielders James Ward-Prowse, who will leave Southampton, and Ajax’s Edson Alvarez,” Law states.
“West Ham are in pole position to land Barnes, but could face competition for Alvarez, who almost moved to Chelsea last summer, from Borussia Dortmund.”
They are three top class operators and it would certainly take the edge off losing Rice for West Ham.
You could even make a case to say the team and squad – on paper at least – will be stronger.
Which is how it should work in this situations for clubs like the Hammers.
