Quarter-final opponents Gent have sent a truly classy message to West Ham after the club’s Europa Conference League glory.

West Ham have won their first major trophy for 43 years and first European title since 1965.

A breathtaking last gasp goal from Jarrod Bowen gave West Ham a 2-1 win over Fiorentina to see the Irons lift the Europa Conference League.

Said Benrahma had given West Ham the lead but the Hammers were pegged back just a few minutes later.

Bowen would have the final say, though, timing his run perfectly as he was found beautifully by Lucas Paqueta before providing a finish that will go down in West Ham history.

One of the sides West Ham beat on their way to winning the Conference League was Belgian outfit Gent.

The Hammers drew 1-1 away in the first leg of the quarter-final against them before thumping them 4-1 at home to advance to the semi-finals.

At the time many felt it might be a good omen because West Ham played and beat Gent when they won the European Cup Winners Cup nearly 60 years ago.

And so it proved to be! West Ham emerged champions after going unbeaten in the entire competition – winning every game except for the draw in Belgium.

Now Gent have sent a truly classy message to West Ham after their Europa Conference League glory.

‘Playing against us in a European Cup brings you good luck apparently’

“Congratulations West Ham,” Gent posted on social media.

“Playing against us in a European Cup brings you good luck apparently.

“Well done. Enjoy the party!

“P.S. sorry for the draw in Ghent, someone had to make it a little harder.”

What an absolute touch of class from Gent.

West Ham fans certainly will enjoy the party too.

David Moyes has been captured on Benrahma’s live stream dancing in the changing room after the game.

West Ham will now celebrate their win with a trophy parade in east London this evening.

The club has released full details which you can see here.
