But there will always be some who scoff at the club’s achievement with the Conference League derided by certain rival fans and pundits.

Given there are only three trophies Premier League teams can win each season and four for those who compete in Europe, such ridicule is utterly ridiculous.
Especially when it is coming from rival clubs who have failed to win anything for years themselves.
The majority seem to be happy for West Ham as the club and its fans finally get a day in the sun.
Tributes and congratulations have poured in to drown out the cynics branding it a “Mickey Mouse” trophy.

“Premier League teams should be looking to dominate this competition.
“It’s not easy to win domestic trophies with Man City about, so go for it like the Hammers did!!”

Perfectly put by Carragher who has always spoken well about West Ham and its fans.
He makes a salient point about Manchester City too. Clubs are finding it more and more difficult to challenge for silverware.
So how any fan of any club can turn their nose up at a major trophy is laughable.
It is water off a duck’s back for West Ham fans today, though.
And supporters will proudly belt out the chant ‘Champions of Europe, we know what we are’ all next season.
