A Sky Sports reporter has delivered a live double West Ham transfer update on Hugo Ekitike and Filip Kostic from inside Rush Green.

With deadline day almost upon us, all eyes are on whether West Ham can put the finishing touches to an excellent summer transfer window.

West Ham’s focus since signing Mohammed Kudus has been on bringing in a striker.

Technical director Tim Steidten has been in Brazil for talks with – among others – Yuri Alberto of Corinthians.

That deal is now off according to the likes of Dharmesh Sheth.

But as we reported last night, the Hammers have deliberately kept dialogue open with PSG for another target – Hugo Ekitike.

PSG want to offload the jet-heeled Frenchman and Steidten is said to have already held talks with the Paris club and the player. And Ekitike was reportedly impressed by what Steidten had to say during those talks.

A number of West Ham players are being linked with moves away before the deadline too.

Among them is outcast Maxwel Cornet, whose face simply does not seem to fit under David Moyes.

That has seen new links to longstanding West Ham target Filip Kostic, who is in a similar situation to Cornet at Juventus – the club he chose over the Hammers last summer.

Now a Sky Sports reporter has delivered a live double West Ham transfer update on Ekitike and Kostic from inside Rush Green.

Gary Cotterill has been speaking live from the Hammers’ training ground on Thursday afternoon ahead of Moyes’ pre-Luton press conference.

And he confirmed on Sky Sports News at 1.30pm that West Ham are indeed trying to do deals for both players.

“A really good feeling around here at the West Ham training ground,” Cotterill said from inside Rush Green.

“Of course a new European cup in the trophy cabinet, three games so far in the Premier League, haven’t been beaten, they’ve won the last two scoring six goals in the process and all without Declan Rice.

“The Rice money is being spent carefully and steadily. Three midfielders through the door already, a centre-back as well.

“But West Ham do remain in the market for a striker between now and end of play tomorrow and Hugo Ekitike, the young PSG forward, seems to be top of the list at the moment. There are other Premier League clubs in for him, Eintracht Frankfurt in for him as well. I know that PSG want the player to leave before the deadline and they want it to be either on loan with an obligation or a straight out sale.

“Potentially as well another midfielder coming in – an attack-minded midfielder – we’ve heard the name Filip Kostic – linked with West Ham before he chose Juventus last time around. But he’s down the pecking order there and there is a difference in the valuation between the two clubs.

“But potentially maybe two more in to West Ham.”
