Roma have given up on Gianluca Scamacca despite a perfectly reasonable West Ham demand as attentions turn elsewhere.
It is not just the future of West Ham captain Declan Rice that is making the headlines in the early days of the summer transfer window.
Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca is the subject of intense speculation too and it very much seems to be a case of no smoke without fire.
Whether it is the forward pushing for a move, David Moyes looking to cut his losses after a difficult debut season or simply a case of Serie A clubs being desperate to bring him back to Italy remains to be seen.
There has been claim and counter claim about Scamacca and his future.

Roma give up on Gianluca Scamacca despite perfectly reasonable West Ham demand as attentions turn elsewhere
After just 11 Premier League starts for the Hammers, the 6ft 5in striker is being heavily linked with a move back to Italy, most recently with Roma, where he spent time as a youngster.
But both Milan clubs, Juventus, Atalanta and Napoli have also been linked with the forward.
Most reports have linked Scamacca with a loan move – as we predicted would be the case on Hammers News following his knee operation.
Now there has been a big development according to reports in Italy.
Roma have given up on Scamacca despite a perfectly reasonable West Ham demand as attentions turn elsewhere.

Italians turn back on Scamacca for Daka
Calcio Mercato claims West Ham are refusing to let last summer’s £35m signing leave on loan, insisting any interested clubs stump up the money to buy him.
As a result Roma have turned their back on Scamacca and are going after Leicester’s Patson Daka – himself a former West Ham target – instead.
The report states Roma are ‘unable to unblock the Scamacca deal with West Ham’. But Leicester are open to a loan with an option to buy for Daka.
It is stated that Roma director of sport Tiago Pinto and new CEO Lina Soulouko were in London this week to discuss the Daka signing.
West Ham are being linked with a number of strikers including Viktor Gyokeres, Sheraldo Becker, Jonathan David and Armando Broja to name but three.
Scamacca posted an update on social media last week amid the speculation over his future.
