Telegraph journalist Matt Law claims coveted midfield star James Ward-Prowse has made a big U-turn over a move to West Ham.

As the race to sign West Ham skipper Declan Rice escalates, so too do David Moyes’ efforts to replace him at the London Stadium.

Rice is such a unique talent that West Ham are eyeing two midfielders with different attributes to replace him in the Hammers midfield.

So, inevitably, West Ham are being heavily linked with a host of players including the likes of James Ward-Prowse, Joao Palhinha, Edson Alvarez and Yunus Musah.

At one stage West Ham were being labelled favourites to sign the relegated Southampton captain. In fact The Daily Mail had claimed West Ham was Ward-Prowse’s most likely destination.

And back in April Moyes let slip that he tried to bring Saints star Ward-Prowse to West Ham previously.

But The Independent recently reported that Fulham have joined West Ham in the race to sign the set-piece specialist.

And worse still for West Ham, the report claimed the midfielder prefers a move to Fulham.

There has been a development, though, according to a respected football reporter.

‘He is keen on a move to the Hammers’

Law confirmed Moyes wants to sign two midfielders. And he says Ward-Prowse wants to join West Ham.

“West Ham want to use the money they will make from selling Declan Rice to sign three players, two of whom will be midfielders to replace the club captain,” Law states.

“Ward-Prowse is keen on a move to the Hammers, but Ajax’s Alavarez may be harder to get. West Ham are in pole position to land Barnes, but may face competition.”

As reported by Hammers News over the weekend, if Fulham are in for Ward-Prowse then it would suggest they are open to selling another West Ham target in Palhinha.
