West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta is now likely to remain at the London Stadium this summer and beyond, rather than join Newcastle.

Lucas Paqueta is now unlikely to join Newcastle from West Ham in the summer transfer window due to the Toon having a far tighter budget than was initially expected, according to Claret and Hugh.

It was claimed a couple of days ago that the 25-year-old could leave West Ham this summer if the owners’ asking price of around £75-80 million is met.

Despite a slow start to life with the Hammers, Paqueta has now firmly established himself as one of the most vital players that David Moyes has at his disposal at the London Stadium.

Losing the Brazilian this summer would be an absolute disaster for us, especially with Declan Rice having left already.

It seems like the former Lyon man is here to stay though…

According to C&H, it is highly unlikely that the talented Brazilian midfielder will leave the Hammers this summer.

That’s great news.

The 25-year-old will undoubtedly be our talisman in the absence of Rice, and I expect him to reach even higher levels for the club this season and beyond.

Lucas Paqueta looked like a different player for West Ham during the final few months of last season.

He always wants the ball, continually tries to make things happen in the final third and is a great outlet for our defenders when they’re under the cosh.

Losing Paqueta this summer would be an incredibly big blow for the Hammers.

As things stand though, it seems as though that’s something we don’t have to worry about…phew!
