West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta is allegedly wanted by Newcastle United this summer.

According to Claret and Hugh – a website with close links with Hammers owner David Sullivan, West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta is ‘very clearly’ on the radar of Newcastle in the summer transfer window.

And it is suggested that if the Toon really want to sign the Hammer star, he will cost somewhere around £75-80 million.

Last month, a report stated that West Ham might struggle to keep Paqueta at the London Stadium this summer.

And now it seems like David Moyes will have to dig his heels in, if Newcastle come knocking for the Brazilian star…

Claret and Hugh reckon that the Toon are ready to swoop in for the former Lyon ace this summer.

It might take up to £80 million to sign him though according to C&H.

I just can’t see this one happening – certainly not this summer. It was only yesterday when Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said Newcastle had a tight budget (presumably because of FFP regulations), and that he would have to get creative with his summer business.

Lucas Paqueta seems to be more than happy at West Ham, and a move to Newcastle this month would come as a real shock.

Having lost Declan Rice already this summer, we really can’t afford to lose our new star man as well.

Described by his teammate Vladimir Coufal as ‘unreal’, the South American is a truly wonderful footballer.

He is incredibly composed in possession, has unbelievable skill and vision and played a vital role in keeping the Hammers in the Premier League and winning the Europa Conference League.

Let’s hope that we can have a good season, match the ambitions of Lucas Paqueta and subsequently keep him out of Newcastle’s grasp.

However, that will be easier said than done!
