A reporter close to David Sullivan has made a big claim about how much West Ham United will pay for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

According to Sean Whetstone, Harry Maguire would see his wages drop around £70k-a-week down to £100k-a-when he joins West Ham from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Sean Whetstone took to Twitter last night to lay out in detail the figures behind Maguire’s move from Manchester United to the Hammers.

He explained how West Ham will be paying the 30-year-old £100k-a-week. That’s £70k-a-week less than he receives at Man United. Over the course of the three years remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford , that works out to be around £11 million.

And in order to make up for that shortfall, West Ham could pay him a £5.5 million signing on bonus whilst Man United will pay him the same amount as a severance fee:

That seems more than fair to me.

As much as some of our fans are criticising the Maguire signing, I think he’ll be great for us.

The England international is incredibly dominant in the air and always excels when playing in a deep backline and/or as part of a three man central defensive unit.

Harry Maguire will get exactly that at West Ham. And for £30 million, I think he’ll go on to be a very good signing for us.
