West Ham United are allegedly ready to make a €15 million (£12.4 million) bid for Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai.
That’s according to a report from Turkish publication Yeni Safak who claim that the Hammers will be ‘knocking on Fenerbahce’s door’ very soon.
West Ham manager David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium…and fast.
Nayef Aguerd was signed back in June but he will be out injured for at least another six weeks or so after undergoing surgery on his ankle.
Craig Dawson missed yesterday’s defeat to Manchester City with a thigh strain whilst Issa Diop appears to be heading out of the club (Football.London).
And it seems as though Moyes’s centre-back search is now focused firmly in Turkey…
West Ham ready to pounce for Attila Szalai
Yeni Safak claim that the Hammers are ready to knock on Fenerbahce’s door with a £12.4 million offer for the 24-year-old centre-back.
We think that, for that kind of money, the Hungary international would be a fantastic addition for West Ham.
Szalai really does have absolutely everything that the Hammers need at the moment.
The physically imposing Fenerbahce centre-back seems to be tailor made for the Premier League.
Standing at 6ft 4in tall, the 24-capped Hungary international is an imposing figure. He is incredibly strong, athletic and dominant in the air.
In 32 Super Lig games for Fenerbahce last season, Szalai bagged one goal and two assists. During those appearances, he averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and two clearances per game (Who Scored).
He made 43.8 passes per match and recorded a completion rate of 81% (Who Scored).
West Ham would be wise to get a deal for Attila Szalai wrapped up asap.
We believe that £12.4 million for the Hungarian would be sensational value for the Hammers.
