Report: West Ham take first step needed to sign £65 million Argentina international

West Ham United have allegedly made an enquiry for Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos ahead of the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Super Deporte who claims that the Hammers could face competition from Wolves for the 27-year-old winger’s signature in the summer.

West Ham manager David Moyes has a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer.

In all fairness, the addition of a new attacking wide player will be well down on Moyes’s wish-list.

Having said that, should Andriy Yarmolenko leave on a free transfer in the summer, as he is expected to do, then we will be left rather light in that particular department.

And it seems as though Moyes has his eye on someone in particular to really bolster the left and right wing departments.

West Ham make Ocampos enquiry

The Hammers have asked about what it will take to prise the 27-year-old winger away from Sevilla according to a report from Super Deporte.

The Argentinian ace can play anywhere along the front-line and that kind of versatility will undoubtedly appeal to David Moyes.

Ocampos would be a very good signing for West Ham, albeit a slightly unrealistic one.

He was recently described as a ‘sensational’ winger (Golazo Argentino).

Ocampos is incredibly technically gifted and has really impressive pace and quality in the final third.

The 27-year-old has bagged nine goals and four assists in 36 games for Sevilla so far this season (Transfermarkt).

The big problem is that Sevilla allegedly want around £65 million for Ocampos this summer (Estadio Deportivo).

There is no way that West Ham will be paying that kind of money for one player this summer. So unless the Hammers owners spring a huge surprise at the end of the season, we don’t expect the 10-capped Argentina international attacker to rock up at the London Stadium.
