Report: West Ham ready to spend big to sign 'explosive’ Maxwel Cornet

West Ham United are allegedly ready to spend big on versatile Burnley ace Maxwel Cornet in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to football journalist Alan Nixon who claims that the Hammers are prepared to pay more than the 25-year-old’s £17.5 million release clause in order to steal a march on the likes of Everton in the race for his signature.

The East London outfit have been heavily linked with a move to sign Cornet throughout the transfer window.

West Ham manager David Moyes has been an extremely busy man in the transfer window already this summer, signing Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca and youngster Patrick Kelly.

It seems as though the Scot is far from done though and his next move will be to add a versatile left-sided player to his ranks at the London Stadium…

West Ham ready to spend big on Maxwel Cornet

Football journalist Alan Nixon reckons that Hammers boss David Moyes is hopeful of agreeing a deal to bring the 25-year-old Burnley star to the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

It is suggested that West Ham are ready to pay £2.5 million more than Cornet’s £17.5 million release clause in order to get a deal done quickly.

Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for around £13 million (BBC).

He has been a huge hit at Turf Moor, bagging nine goals and two assists in 29 games for the Clarets (Transfermarkt).

We believe that the Burnley speed demon would be a sensational signing for West Ham.

He’s one of the quickest forwards in the Premier League and can operate on either wing or at left-back.

Cornet can even play as a striker if need be!

The 29-capped Ivory Coast international is aggressive, direct and loves running at opposing defenders.

West Ham have struggled without any real pace in our team over the past year or so. Michail Antonio has definitely lost half a yard.

The Premier League is built on power and pace nowadays. The Burnley star has been described as an ‘explosive player’ by ESPN pundit Ale Moreno.

And if West Ham manage to sign Maxwel Cornet this summer, we could have a frightening attacking lineup next season.
