West Ham United are keeping an eye on the possibility of signing Maxwel Cornet from Burnley in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon who wrote on his patreon account that the Hammers are monitoring the 25-year-old ace’s situation, as well as Everton and Nottingham Forest.
West Ham manager David Moyes has been linked with a move to sign the Burnley ace before (The Telegraph).
We think Cornet would be an interesting addition for the Hammers and it seems as though David Moyes is of the same opinion…
West Ham eyeing potential Cornet deal
According to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the Hammers could be set to battle Everton and Nottingham Forest for the 25-year-old’s signature.
Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for around £13 million (BBC).
He has been a huge hit at Turf Moor, bagging nine goals and two assists in 29 games for the Clarets (Transfermarkt).
Highly respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Burnley will sell Cornet if his €21 million (£18 million) release clause is met this summer.
We believe that the Burnley speed demon would be a sensational signing for West Ham.
He’s one of the quickest forwards in the Premier League and can operate on either wing or at left-back.
Cornet can even play as a striker if need be!
The 29-capped Ivory Coast international is aggressive, direct and loves running at opposing defenders.
West Ham have struggled without any real pace in our team over the past year or so. Michail Antonio has definitely lost half a yard.
The Premier League is built on power and pace nowadays.
And if West Ham bring Cornet to the London Stadium for just £18 million this summer, it would be an unbelievable deal.
