West Ham scouts have just watched Brazilian youngster Jeffinho during Botafogo’s win over Santos, and were very impressed with what they saw.
That’s according to Brazilian journalist Jose Passini who claims that the Hammers could face competition from Newcastle for the 22-year-old’s signature in the January transfer window.
It is suggested that the West Ham scouts were delighted with what they saw from Jeffinho.
West Ham boss David Moyes has a lot of work to do over the next five or six weeks with his current crop of players at the London Stadium. The Scot will undoubtedly be on the look-out for some reinforcements as well, with the January window on the horizon.

The addition of a winger with real pace and trickery is much needed at West Ham.
And it seems as though Moyes has someone specific in mind…
West Ham eye up January swoop for Jeffinho
The South American winger is allegedly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Moyes is clearly keen to add more quality options to his wide attacking department at the London Stadium.
Brazilian journalist Jose Passini claims that the West Ham scouts were blown away by the 22-year-old’s display against Santos over the weekend:
This would be a really exciting addition as far as I’m concerned.
Jeffinho has bagged four goals and seven assists in 39 games for Botafogo so far this season (Transfermarkt).
The Brazilian is very highly rated in his homeland.
He has pace in abundance and is full of trickery and flair.
Obviously he is still very rough around the edges, and a move to the Premier League would clearly be a big jump up in both quality and intensity for him.
Still though, he has such a high ceiling and I strongly believe that signing Jeffinho will be a risk worth taking for West Ham in January.
